We know summer in Tahoe provides the obvious beach, water and mountain activities, you might wonder what else is there to do? Here are some of our favorite “out of the box” suggestions for you.
Up in the Air
One of the best ways to capture the stillness and beauty of Lake Tahoe is to experience an early morning hot air balloon ride. Lake Tahoe Hot Air Balloon Rides departs from the Tahoe Keys Marina to glide you by boat over the still morning waters where it finds the perfect location to launch. If you let us know in advance we can even try to take a picture of the hot air balloon you are in from our beach for you.
Activities for the Shutterflies
Should you prefer to take the photos but not sure where to go to capture the award winning pictures to decorate your wall with, then a guided tour with Tahoe Photographic Tours sounds perfect. Tahoe Photo Tours is designed for the photographer of any level wanting to experience the Lake Tahoe landscapes, waterfalls, mountains reflecting their own images in lakes below and vast vistas. These guides will get you into unique locations for your photography and even take the pictures for you or show you how to use that digital camera of yours.
New Ways to Experience the Great Outdoors
Are you adventurous? How does a 30 minute alpine lake and waterfall tour sound? View stunning waterfalls and lakes with up close views of the 800 foot Horsetail Falls and sheer granite faces of Lover’s Leap with Pacific North Helicopters. Prefer to stay on the ground, then a scenic guided horseback ride will get you far and high into the Tahoe wilderness. Kitchen Kids
Calling all kids who love to bake. The Tahoe Heritage Foundation provides a summer interactive program twice a week for children 6 to 12 years called Kitchen Kids. The children will learn about baking and the busy atmosphere of our early 20th Century kitchen. They will bake 1920s recipes from scratch and then get to feast on them. Eating at many of Tahoe’s local eateries can be an activity all its own.
A Big Beer Scene (in small batches)
The craft beer movement has arrived to Tahoe. We love having our own “beer”muda triangle close to the hotel.
Sidellis Lake Tahoe is a short walk from the hotel and serves several seasonal brews daily as well as food. The Brewery at Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe’s original brewpub opened in 1992 and occupies a charming red brick building constructed in 1930. Also in walking distance of the hotel the Brewery’s main focus has been on handcrafted ales and their Michelangelo pizza made with their Bad Ass Ale pizza dough, but has expanded their menu offerings. A short drive west will take you to Cold Water Brewery, an all-grain brewery featuring hand-crafted beer brewed on site and nearby South Lake Brewing CO features a brewery and tasting room with handcrafted beer inspired by the beauty and adventure of Lake Tahoe. At Lake Tahoe Ale Worx lovers of craft beer can serve yourself straight out of a variety of taps offer of the latest one-off from the new local brewery or the opportunity to explore a seasonal limited release.
