SUMMARY:Heavenly Village Summer Concert Series: Reckless Envy
DESCRIPTION:Reckless Envy is comprised of vocalist and guitarist Billy James Lassi\, violinist Virginia Bowman and guitarist and vocalist Keith Lindsey. \n“You can rest assured\, that with these three on your stage\, they will entertain for just about any audience! Reckless Envy is quickly building a following wherever they perform\, becoming one of the most sought-after bands in recent years in Northern Nevada!” \nThe Shops at Heavenly Village will host free outdoor concerts every Friday and Saturday evening Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at their main stage.\n \nThe center is located at 1001 Heavenly Village Way surrounding the Marriott resorts and gondola. Parking garage is $5 after 5:00 pm. \nThe events\, which last through Labor Day\, are held every Friday and Saturday (with a Sunday bonus over holidays) and showcase the talents of both regional and national musicians. \nOf the 15 acts that are scheduled to make a combined total of just over 30 appearances in the village this summer\, most hail from locations in the western United States such as Los Angeles\, San Francisco\, Las Vegas and Reno. \n“There’s a lot of local talent in that village\, but they’re playing there on a daily basis in front of the restaurants — in front of Gunbarrel\, in front of Base Camp and in front of Azul\,” Murin said of the music scene in Heavenly Village\, which welcomes Tahoe-based artists daily throughout the year. \n“They always have local talent out there\, so what we try to do is let local talent shine every single day\, but also bring in some music and some entertainers from out of the area that people haven’t seen before. Add a little bit of variation and freshness there.” \nThe concert series has grown in size each year — what began with merely five shows held on a stage riser is now a grand production with rotating locations and other improvements\, and which draws upwards of 500 people each night. \n“We’ve enhanced overall production and added a bunch of lighting elements. We’ve brought in more out-of-town acts this year\,” Murin explained\, adding that he now receives calls from national acts wanting to play the series. \n“Our ultimate goal is to expand the series to have one or two big\, well-known headliners every single year.” \nApart from being Lake Tahoe’s largest free summer concert series\, what also sets the Heavenly Village events apart from other seasonal entertainment is its family-friendly environment. \nConcerts are held either between Gunbarrel Tavern and Fire + Ice or in front of Azul Latin Kitchen. \nA complete schedule for the Heavenly Village Summer Concert Series is available online at http://www.theshopsatheavenly.com. Wind began his career when he was only seven years old after his grandfather introduced him to magic by showing him the disappearing hanky trick.  He is now the youngest magician to perform in Las Vegas to date.  Wind is a hip\, young illusionist who combines his amazing magic and musical talents into a fun\, unique show for all ages.  Wind is an award recipient of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and was a winner of “Magician of the Year” award on the network television special “World Magic Awards.”  He was recently featured in the Bally’s Las Vegas hit show MASTERS OF ILLUSION LIVE!  Wind has appeared multiple times on The CW Network’s hit television show\, MASTERES OF ILLUSION\, including the current sixth season now airing.

DESCRIPTION:he Steve Miller Band is an American rock band formed in 1966 in San Francisco\, California. The band is managed by Steve Miller on guitar and lead vocals. They are best known today for a string of (mainly) mid-1970s hit singles that are staples of classic rock radio\, as well as several earlier acid rock albums. Miller left his first band to move to San Francisco and form the Steve Miller Blues Band. Shortly after Harvey Kornspan negotiated the band’s landmark contract with Capitol/EMI Records in 1967\, the band shortened its name to the Steve Miller Band. In February 1968\, the band recorded its debut album\, Children of the Future. It went on to produce the albums Sailor\, Brave New World\, Your Saving Grace\, Number 5\, Rock Love and more. The band’s Greatest Hits 1974–78\, released in 1978\, sold over 13 million copies. The band continued to produce more albums and in 2014 toured with the rock band Journey. In 2015\, Steve Miller was nominated as a solo artist for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. \nSteve Miller’s career has encompassed two distinct stages: one of the top San Francisco blues-rockers during the late ’60s and early ’70s\, and one of the top-selling pop/rock acts of the mid- to late ’70s and early ’80s with hits like “The Joker\,” “Fly Like an Eagle\,” “Rock’n Me\,” and “Abracadabra.” Miller was turned on to music by his father\, who worked as a pathologist but knew stars like Charles Mingus and Les Paul\, whom he brought home as guests; Paul taught the young Miller some guitar chords and let him sit in on a session. Miller formed a blues band\, the Marksmen Combo\, at age 12 with friend Boz Scaggs; the two teamed up again at the University of Wisconsin in a group called the Ardells\, later the Fabulous Night Trains. Miller moved to Chicago in 1964 to get involved in the local blues scene\, teaming with Barry Goldberg for two years. \nHe then moved to San Francisco and formed the first incarnation of the Steve Miller Blues Band\, featuring guitarist James “Curly” Cooke\, bassist Lonnie Turner\, and drummer Tim Davis. The band built a local following through a series of free concerts and backed Chuck Berry in 1967 at a Fillmore date later released as a live album. Scaggs moved to San Francisco later that year and replaced Cooke in time to play the Monterey Pop Festival; it was the first of many personnel changes. Capitol signed the group as the Steve Miller Band following the festival.

SUMMARY:Dave Matthews Band Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys
DESCRIPTION:Dave Matthews Band\, known also as DMB\, formed in Charlottesville\, Virginia\, in early 1991\, when vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews decided to put some songs he had written on tape. Instead of simply recording himself with a guitar\, he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth. Dave found assistance in drummer Carter Beauford and saxophonist LeRoi Moore\, who were both accomplished jazz musicians in the local Charlottesville music scene. Based on the recommendation of distinguished local jazz guru John D’earth\, 16-year-old musical prodigy Stefan Lessard came on board to play bass. Completing the band was keyboard player Peter Griesar\, who left the band after a couple of years\, as well as the talented and classically trained violinist\, Boyd Tinsley. \nThe first public performance of Dave Matthews Band occurred at the City of Charlottesville’s Earth Day Festival in April 1991. The first official gig for the newly conceived Dave Matthews Band was May 11\, 1991\, at a private party held on the rooftop of the pink warehouse on South Street in downtown Charlottesville. Local weekly gigs soon followed at Eastern Standard and then Trax nightclub\, and within a little time\, word of the band’s contagious new sound spread like wildfire throughout the region. Clubs started to fill up\, tours began to cover more territory\, and the fan base grew at an incredible rate. \nOn November 9\, 1993\, DMB released its first album\, Remember Two Things\, on its Bama Rags label. The album was recorded live at The Muse Music Club on Nantucket Island\, in August of 1993. The album debuted on College charts as the highest independent entry and went on to be certified gold by the RIAA — a significant accomplishment for an independent album. Meanwhile\, the band kept touring and its fan base continued to grow. By allowing fans to tape shows for their personal use\, DMB created a highly interactive community that continues in spirit today.

SUMMARY:Fall Fish Fest (Kokanee Salmon Festival) at Taylor Creek Visitor Center
DESCRIPTION:Saturday and Sunday\, October 5 & 6\, 2019\, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Celebrate the annual fall migration of the Kokanee salmon during the Fall Fish Fest at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center\, Lake Tahoe. \nhe Fall Fish Festival will take place at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center located on SR Highway 89\, three miles north of the City of South Lake Tahoe. Hosted by the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in collaboration with Great Basin Institute\, the festival is an opportunity to learn about the variety of fish species that live in Lake Tahoe and its tributaries including the federally threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout. \nhe festival is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. On Saturday\, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s giant inflatable fish will be on hand to serve as a gateway for fun activity stations for kids. Both days will feature appearances by festival mascots Lulu the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout and Sandy and Rocky Salmon. Smokey Bear will also make special appearances. \nFestival events include children’s activities\, such as face painting\, a food vendor\, educational booths and a streamside information station. Kokanee Trail Runs\, sponsored by the Tahoe Mountain Milers\, will take place on Sunday. DESCRIPTION:Historic Resort and Marina is adding new food and games to this year’s Oktoberfest on Oct. 5-6. New sausage varieties\, Bavarian beef stew\, Beacon beer and brat boil\, and for dessert\, delicious caramel apples are coming to the menu. There will also be chances to win a mountain bike and purchase 25th-anniversary merchandise including a commemorative glass stein from Germany and signature shirts. The fall festival\, a favorite for visitors and locals\, runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and entrance and parking for the event are free. \nAll festival tickets for food and beverage booths\, pumpkin patch and kids’ inflatable activities must be purchased with cash at the ticket booths. (www.camprichardson.com/oktoberfest) \nFestival-goers are encouraged to take advantage of the free bike valet in front of the Mountain Sports Center. Free parking is available in the resort’s Eagles Nest campground on paved sites or reserve a room in the resort’s historic hotel or a space in the campground. \nCamp Richardson’s beer garden will be fully stocked with Oktoberfest and fall-inspired brews\, including local brewery Alibi Ale Works. Festival-goers can choose from German Spaten\, Sam Adams Octoberfest\, Deschutes Chasin Freshies\, St Archer Hazy\, Ninkasi Oktoberfest\, Hefeweizen\, Leinenkugel Oktoberfest\, Red Ale\, and Alibi Pilsner. The festival will also offer Crispin Cider and choice of wines for purchase. \nIn addition to the German-inspired brats and sausages\, food choices will include roasted quarter chicken\, a veggie “Beyond Bratwurst” option\, and sides like roasted corn\, pretzels\, and apple strudel. \nCamp Richardson’s ode to the Munich festival is well known for its range of family-friendly activities from face painting and balloon art to bouncy houses. This year there will be a new climbing wall and free pumpkin bowling. The “Gruber Family Band” will play live polka music both days and will be accompanied by Marcia Sarosik’s dancers from Lake Tahoe Shining Stars on Sunday\, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. \nPopular festival events include Sunday’s bratwurst eating contest. Interested contestants need to sign up by 1:30 p.m. at the pumpkin patch. The showdown takes place at 3 p.m. on the main stage. Lederhosen are optional but encouraged. \nOther contests during the two-day festival range from beer stein holding to yodeling and costume contests for dogs and their owners. Winners receive gift certificates for food\, activities\, and lodging at the resort. New this year will be a Mountain Bike giveaway at 4 p.m. on Sunday\, people can buy tickets to enter and they need not be present to win. \nVendor row will include many handcrafted and made in Tahoe choices like Tahoe Nevada Love\, Gina’s Face Painting\, Inspired Balloons\, Tahoe Henna\, Sierra Essentials\, and RISE design apparel and hats. \nThere is still time to catch a ride on Camp Richardson’s Rum Runner cruise. Boats depart Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.\, for a 90-minute round trip cruise to Emerald Bay. Spots are limited\, and reservations are recommended to guarantee a berth aboard the resort’s yacht. The Rum Runner will run daily\, minimum occupancy required\, at 1 p.m. through Oct. 14.
