Lake Tahoe is a water-sports centre during summer and snow paradise in winter. Tahoe is located 40 km southwest of downtown Reno at the border of Nevada and California. Excellent motorways allow getting to it quickly in any weather.

This lake, the main attraction of these places, pleases tourists all year round. The total area is 496 square kilometers.  Around it there is beautiful mountain scenery.  There are around twelve ski resorts where tourists can get a full range of winter adventures. Here many popular sports are available, such as diving, swimming, water sport, skiing, etc.

Lake Tahoe was the central place of the territory inhabited by these Indians, who also lived in the upper valleys of the Walker, Truckee and Carson. They called the area ” da hou a ha” (Da ow a ga), which literally means “edge of the lake.” When the first white travelers arrived, they began saying the word “da hou” that eventually transformed into the modern name of the lake – Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is a paradise for many and most of the people who visit the lake once always wish to return again.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places on the earth. Lovely view, amazing water and a huge variety of outdoor activities make it attractive to travelers from around the world. However, for those who enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay – this place is not very suitable because here it is always noisy; a lot of shops, campsites, and of course, holiday houses or small cottages. Thousands of wooden villas are located in the pine forests around the lake, and many of them are private.
